Breakfast

Angel Food French Toast

Angel food cake is touted as the lighter dessert, right? It’s the treat that people eat when they go on a diet and when paired with fruit, it gets even healthier. So I got to thinking – I bet some of these slices are even less caloric that the thick Italian bread I’d use to make french toast anyway.

Pizza Meatloaf

This pizza meatloaf recipe takes everyone's favorite food (pizza) and combines it with this homestyle classic — and how could that be bad?! Start with your meatloaf mixture — but pizza-fied! There's ground beef (or turkey, if you prefer), then mix in some pizza sauce, bread crumbs, egg, bell pepper, onion, garlic, and oregano. Next, make the glaze: swap the classic ketchup for more pizza sauce, mixed with brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Pop that in the oven to bake while you prepare your pizza toppings. When the meatloaf has pre-baked for 20 minutes, remove from oven and top. We chose peppers, pepperoni, and olives, but feel free to go wild with your favorite toppings. Just don't forget to add plenty of cheese! Pop it back in the oven and 15 more minutes you've got a super comforting dinner you'll want to make again and again.

Breakfast

Deviled Eggs

Deviled Eggs are one of my favorites foods to enjoy all year long. This classic recipe makes the perfect little bite to add to any meal or party spread. I love Deviled Eggs. I always have. If you like Deviled Eggs as much as I do, you know how difficult it is to try to eat just one. Usually, we only enjoy them around the holidays or for special occasions, in which case, I can’t dump several dozen on my plate and find a hiding place to eat them in secret. That would not be in the holiday spirit! No, not one bit. But don’t think it hasn’t crossed my mind.

Healthy Fried Brown Rice

Fried rice is one of those tasty little dishes full of flavor and full of vegetables. It could totally be healthy if it weren’t for all the oil and white rice! I packed the brown rice dish full of veggies and turned this greasy Chinese restaurant classic into a healthy version that retains all the flavor. Honestly, you may not even realize it is good for you!

Breakfast

French Toast Fingers

French toast fingers are part dessert, part breakfast, and all fun. Classic French toast is made with a hint of citrus and turned into jam sandwiches cut into "fingers". A fun treat for kids in the morning! WHISK together eggs, milk, salt and vanilla in a shallow bowl. Set aside. SPREAD jam evenly over four of the slices of bread and top with the remaining slices of bread. Trim the crusts if desired and cut each sandwich into three equal strips. PREHEAT a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the pan. Dip each sandwich strip into the egg mixture to coat. Place in the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. DUST with icing sugar before serving.

Best Ever Turkey Meatloaf

Ground turkey recipes have a bad rep for being bland and boring. But this Turkey meatloaf is LOADED with flavor. How? Worcestershire garlic, rosemary, and thyme. And ketchup. When it comes to any kind of meatloaf (beef included!), there must be ketchup. Meatloaf tends to look done on the outside before it’s ready. And it won't hold together properly unless it's fully cooked! So even if you like a medium-rare burger, you DO NOT want a medium-rare meatloaf. Before slicing your meatloaf, let it rest for at least 15 minutes. Otherwise, it’ll be harder to get clean slices. Since it was in the oven for over an hour, you won’t risk it going cold too quickly.
